Cana is the town that was the location of Jesus’ first miracle, according to the Gospel of John. Jesus and his mother were at a wedding feast. The hosts had run out of wine, and Mary, Jesus’ mother, brought it to his attention. Jesus at first seemed to brush off his mother’s implied request that he do something about the situation. But then Jesus does respond to her by turning six stone jars of water (about 20 to 30 gallons each) into wine.
